Tonbridge marks the sixth build completed for the owners of Big Box Storage.
Meeting the Client’s Brief
Initial works included demolition of an existing 1980’s car showroom that was being used as a classic car dealers and hand wash company.
In its place we built a highly-functional, 15,600 sq. ft. steel portal frame building. External works included all the groundworks, as well as new landscaping and fencing to improve the plot visually.
As the building is on a prominent, tapering site alongside busy main road, it was important to consider all visual factors. Although, at 11m high, it was always going to be a landmark building!
Project Challenges
One particular challenge for this project was to build over a main sewer, and so Kent Structures designed a cantilevered structure which supports 3-levels of storage inside. This satisfied the water authority and maximised the site potential for the client.
We have found from our many years of experience that each client has their own specific needs, ways of working and expectations from the contractor. As such, we make a point of working closely with every client to understand their individual needs and make sure that we build this into our way of working.
This is the personal touch that a small team brings and why we have forged such a strong relationship with clients like Big Box Storage.
