An existing school building was partially demolished to make way for the new £3.2m state-of-the-art teaching block. The project encompassed the construction of new classrooms, drama studio, staff meeting room and skybridge within the grounds of the grammar school.
Kent Structures were involved in all aspects of the project, from architectural re-design, through demolition and construction, to internal fit-out and external works.
Main building construction comprised Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) and steel frame structure, with prefabricated concrete planks, composite roofs and external deck areas.
As with previous projects on site, the new buildings are designed with sustainability in mind. The buildings insulation, Sedum green roof and Passivent ventilation system work in conjunction to optimise thermal-efficiency and reduce energy consumption. The project has achieved BREEAM Very Good certification.
