Expanding on a great relationship with Glenmore, Daniel was invited again to tender for an interesting industrial business park scheme in Gloucester. This involved the design, groundworks and construction for 12 new business starter units at Waterwells Business Park in Gloucester.
Extensive Ground Improvement Works
Having negotiated the project, the first task was to design a suitable solution to the extremely poor ground conditions. This took the form of ground improvement using dynamic compaction techniques.
The whole site had thousands of tonnes of locally sourced 6C grade stone, tamped into the ground using a 7 tonne shaped-steel weight. Repeatedly dropped from a height of 8m, the weight compacts the stones and fill material to densify the ground. Using seismic analysis, the ground was assessed to have improved so substantially that it exceeded the engineers expectations.
Industrial Steel Frame Building Construction
Lightweight high-level strip foundations were formed using Pecafil permanent formwork. The beam and post style steel frame structure was then erected onto this construction. SUDS drainage systems were created by developing a swale and oversized pipework to discharge into the local network at greenfield run off rates.
A very successful 18,000sq.ft industrial business park development scheme completed in 7 months for £1.1m.
