Kent Structures were proud to be appointed principal contractor on this award-winning wellness project designed by ABIR Architects.
This was our second Natural Fit wellness centre project, both of which were completed in unique and challenging disused buildings.
Both sites are of historical interest. This project was a sympathetic conversion of a church in Hove, East Sussex. The other is an interesting conversion of a former bank in Tunbridge Wells which we completed in 2021.
The project was an award winner in the Commercial category of the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards 2022. The site was in a very sorry state, covered in graffitti and stained glass windows severely damaged. The conversion design was praised for its sympathetic restoration of original features.
Built in the perpendicular style with aisles and a distinctive double west window, the architect was said to be AG Humphry. The main focus was to ensure the historic fabric was retained with clear visual demarcation between old and new.
